Installing a home elevator in your house may be a necessity that is needed to help family members with wheelchair access needs or limited mobility – but it can also be an opportunity to help transform the look and feel of your home!

Getting a home lift fitted can add appeal to your home, where you can ‘lay out the red carpet’ for each guest that steps out of your elevator.

So what exactly does this mean? This means you can rearrange your furniture or path of walking in your home so that it compliments the position of your lift.

Of course, the installation of an elevator won’t cause a huge disruption in your home design, but you can take its fitting as an opportunity to enhance the appeal of your living spaces.

Here are some ideas on how you can create a grand entrance from the elevator to your home.

Spatial arrangement of furniture

Instead of visitors to your home seeing the backs of your couches as soon as the lift doors open, have your furniture placed on either side of the door to give the appearance of being spacious and welcoming.

You may also want to place your TV as forward facing to the elevator also, to add to the ‘inviting’ feeling.

Easy access from the elevator into your home

It’s important to ensure that it is a smooth and easy walk from the lift into your home, as you want to give a seamless transition from one place to another.

Make sure that there are no obstacles in the walk way, such as clunky furniture, sculptures or overbearing bookcases, as you want to make it a comfortable walk for any guest to your home, especially visitors using a wheelchair.
